I rushed to the MRT around late morning,
hoping to catch a relatively empty carraige,
and a seat to boot,
thus upon spotting a vacant
glossy red corner chair, I slide into it gratefully,
and pulled out a book to read.
From the corner of my eye I noticed a boy
with black hair and tanned features, bobbing to music
coming from a pair of large circular white earphones. He was dressed in
a sky-blue shirt and pants, which I think were white or beige
but I have to admit, I've forgotten by now.
Being a terribly boring person, I flipped open my book and tried to
ignore the pretty picture beside me
seperated only by a long panel of glass.
But then, ignoring him grew near impossible, when all of a sudden, he popped an elbow.
Then he followed this up, by a sharp turn and a few more smooth moves across the MRT floor.
Too ruffled, I sneaked a glance up at him, however the light steaming into the MRT
through the MRT doors hit the glass panel at a bad angle, and half his face was illuminated
in an angelic glow. No Joke. Plus, with those white earphones of his, he reminded
me of fleet-footed Hermes, with the wings on his head. He was dancing! on the MRT!
God, that was something new - to me at lest; I've never seen this
before. I was so entirely tickled at this point, my heart was bursting to say something,
anything, but then I looked down at myself; a scruffy brown thing bundled up in
what looked to be someone's grandmother's old oversized knitted pull over
and a dull brown skirt which swished about like a child's and ruffled up at
the end - not exactly the most exciting and interesting person on the
face of the planet. Plus, I'm on the chubby side; not a popular attractive feature in either
man or woman.
So I resigned myself to silence.
But it was such a difficult feat! How I wished to ask him whether perhaps he went to a private school
or did he do this as a school CCA? How old are you? Do others dance as well as you?(Ok, that sort of question is an obvious one)
Well, I wanted to ask him
anything, even a question like "Where did you buy that shirt?" or "Those earphones! Tell me where you got them from!" would have surficed; anything to get a conversation going, to know more about,
this street dancer who was obviously very good at what he does,
and very confident to boot.
Well, he got off at Raffle City to my dismay - I was just about getting my bearings and trying to squeeze out what little
self-esteem I had to say
something....but you know what, that was probably to my benefit; I would have made a fool of myself I'm sure! XD
So off I went happily, still thinking of his moves and has bright sky-cloud appeal,
and was pleasantly suprised to find my friend at school.
We chatted for a while, and then had lunch at MCDonald's. She was so sweet and a gave me advice about
helping my baby sister with her studies. Then we got talking about the end of the world
in which I declared;
"Not before I get rich and famous! I haven't done ANYTHING with my life yet!!!!!!!!!!"After that lovely conversation, and abandoning our heavily-laden trays on the tables XD(I always feel sorry for the workers having worked
at a fastfood joint once - but the funny thing is, I actually LIKED to clear away food-laden trays at the time >.>)
we returned back to school and spoke more.
Soon after I headed for home, thinking happily to myself that
I must return to school ASAP and join her once more
and enjoy the company of another artist in a nice family-free area XO(my family is nonsense, the sooner I leave the better!!!
somebody save me!)Anyway, I was happily crossing the road, heading towards the National Library(you know the "Central" one? That large impending glass building between Bugis and Bras Basah? Yes, that one)
When I slipped on the road! It was terrible! My ankle landed on the ground and
I landed on my ankle!
I yelped but sprang up quickly and hobbled to the other side; it's not good to lie injured in the middle
of the road.
Well, despite my injury, I hurried towards the MRT, urked by the stares directed towards me by passers-by.
When the MRT arrived you have no idea how relieved I was. I quickly got into the MRT and sighed,
leaning against the doors which seprated the passenger cabinet from the driver's seat.
From the corner of my eye a pair of gentlemen were having a very
animated conversation in another language, so I screened them out.
Soon after, the two rose up and left.
My eyes glisten as I eyed the empty seat and I hobbled over to it,
sinking onto the plastic chair in mirth, as I could finally take the weight off my injured leg.
However the pain still made me recoil, so it was a while before I was able to sit
properly on the chair.
By then I finally noticed my sitting-partner. He turned out to be quite another character.
Adorned in black from head to toe, I never got a good look at his face, but as far as I could tell
his skin was dove white and his figure was looong....well ok, I'm short, so anything about 1.7m and above is very tall to me >.>;;;;
His black hair was short and fell into hsi eyes, and his ears were plugged as he was listening
to something...but remember, pain was blooming in my mind, distracting me
and reducing my sharp observation skills to a mild and vague recognition.
But to me, the immediate impression I got was, if the boy in the morning was a boy of the
Day Sky(sky blues and crisp white and light hitting the eyes)
the second boy was definitely the NightSky.
After I got out of the MRT I hobbled over to the nearest chair in front of the lift, hoping to catch a relatively empty one on my way down.
I think I saw the Night heading in my direction, but that mini ordeal was
too much and I grimanced as I clutched onto the granite bench,
hopping to block out a bit more of
the pain.
It was only when I finally caught a bus and was on my way home that my thoughts returned to
the two boys. I have to admit it, I wish I had said something to either of them, but a brown scruff isn't
exactly the most interesting thing in the world to hold a conversation with
thus I have to resign myself with memories.
But memories are good. To Sky-Boy and NightSky,
I think, you'll be seeing yourselves in my art one of these days -
people like this cannot hope to be ignored; they are just too fascinating!
I must, absolutely
must, do a piece on them <333333
